Education and training priorities of the Slovak Council presidency

On 1 July 2016, Slovakia took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The general priorities of the Slovak Presidency are economy, migration and globalisation. The Education, Youth, Culture and Sport Council (EYCS) will meet on 21-22 November 2016 and is going to adopt the following policy documents:

 

 

 

  • Draft Council conclusions on new approaches in youth work in order to develop the potential and talent of young people and their inclusion in society;
  • Proposal for a Council Recommendation on establishing a Skills Guarantee;
  • Draft Council conclusions on prevention of radicalisation leading to violent extremism;
  • Draft Council Resolution on New Skills Agenda for Europe;

Moreover, the Council of the education ministers will talk about:

  • Proposal for a Council Recommendation on the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning and repealing the Recommendation of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2008 on the establishment of the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning
  • Fostering and development of talent

The Competitiveness (Internal Market, Industry, Research And Space) Council will meet on 28-29 November 2016. The Council will adopt a Draft Council conclusions on Supporting young researchers.

Further topics concerning employment, social policies, social dialogue, economic and financial issues and Roma integration will be picked up by the Employment, Social Policy, Health And Consumer Affairs Council (meetings on 13 October and 8 December 2016) and the Economic And Financial Affairs Council (meetings on 12 July, 11 October, 15/16 November, 6 December and 13 December 2016).
